Beyond

How it works

A careful process, built to never get it wrong.

Releasing someone's legacy is a serious thing. So Beyond moves slowly and deliberately, checking and re-checking, with a clear chance to stop at every step. Here's exactly what happens.

The verification process

  1. 1

    You check in

On a schedule you choose — every 30, 60, or 90 days — you confirm you're okay. It takes one tap, and we remind you in good time. As long as you check in, nothing else ever happens.

  2. 2

If a check-in is missed, we wait

Life gets busy. So we don't act right away. A grace period begins and we send gentle reminders by email and text — in case you simply forgot, changed your phone, or were travelling.

  3. 3

    We reach your trusted contact

Still no word? We quietly notify the trusted contact you named — someone close who can vouch that you're alright. They can pause everything on your behalf.

  4. 4

    We ask your witnesses

Only then do we contact the witnesses you chose, and ask a simple question: has this person passed away? It takes more than one of them to agree before anything moves forward.

  5. 5

    A mandatory waiting period

Even after all of that, we hold for a fixed period — a final chance for you to step in. Throughout this entire process, simply logging in cancels everything instantly.

  6. 6

Your vault is released, with care

Only now does your vault open — item by item, to the exact people you chose, on the schedule you set. Each beneficiary verifies their identity before they can see what you left them.

At any moment, logging in stops everything. If you're alive and well, one sign-in clears every signal and returns your vault to normal. It is the single most important safeguard in Beyond.

How your vault stays safe

Security here isn't only about keeping intruders out — it's about making sure your vault opens at the right time, for the right people, and no one else.

No instant unlocking, ever

There is always a mandatory hold before anything is released. It exists to catch mistakes — and to give a living person time to step back in.

Several independent signals

A release needs both missed check-ins past the grace period and agreement from your witnesses — or an official death certificate reviewed by a person. No single signal, and no single individual, is enough.

Witnesses and beneficiaries are separate

The people who confirm your status receive nothing from your vault. The people who receive your vault have no say in your status. This is enforced — they can never overlap.

Private while you're alive

Your vault is yours alone until release. Each item is protected, and sensitive entries like passwords and financial details are stored encrypted.

Identity-verified claims

Before a beneficiary can open anything, they confirm who they are — with a one-time code or, if you choose, a government-ID check.

A complete, lasting record

Every step — every reminder, witness response, and release — is recorded with a timestamp, so there is always a clear, honest account of what happened and when.

Questions people often ask

What if I'm just away on holiday or in hospital?

You can pause Beyond in advance for up to 90 days, your trusted contact can pause it for you, and your witnesses can simply answer that you're alive. And any time you log in, everything resets.

Who can see my vault while I'm alive?

Only you. No one else — not your witnesses, not your beneficiaries, not even Beyond staff — can view your vault contents while you're living.

What if a witness gets it wrong?

A single witness saying you've passed away is never enough on its own. And if a witness says you're alive, the whole process pauses for a person to review. The safe answer always wins.

Could someone fake my death to get in?

It would take several people agreeing, a waiting period they can't skip, and identity checks they can't fake — and an official document is reviewed by a real person. The system is built to make this extremely hard.

What happens to my vault afterwards?

Items are released to the people you chose, each on the timing you set — some right away, others after a delay you decide. Nothing is shared beyond the people and instructions you put in place.

Ready when you are.

Set up your vault in a few quiet minutes. You can change anything, any time.
